Our Story
Hello and welcome to Freak Brand Clothing!
My name is Shane and in 2013, I decided to follow my dream – designing a clothing line devoted to a market that I have been hugely passionate about my whole life. The adrenaline filled worlds of motocross, skating and surfing – extreme sports.
After spending over 35 years in the health and fitness industry, I knew I needed a change. I longed for simpler times, back to the days of doing the one thing I enjoyed the most when I was younger – riding motocross.
Back in those days it wasn’t unusual for my mates and I to return home at sundown, muddy, grubby and often holding a few bike parts we’d lost to our shenanigans.
Our parents would look us up and down before laughing and saying “you look like freaks!”. Of course we revelled in this and proudly wore the term as a badge of honour.
Fast forward to today, I believe my clothing line is a reflection of my youth, looking back through rose coloured glasses. I wanted to capture the essence of those experiences and connect people to the feeling of freedom and limitlessness that comes with motocross, skating, surfing and other fast-paced action sports.
At the same time, FREAK Clothing is, in many ways, an homage to today’s Freaks – the men, women and youth devoted to these sports.
The present-day athletes of arena’s and modern day Coliseums, pushing life’s limits and constantly redefining what we think is possible for humans to achieve.
The most important factor for me was keeping all my products home grown. From the beginning, I’ve proudly kept my clothing line designed, manufactured and printed in Australia. In truth, it hasn’t been an easy process. But it has been a fulfilling and worthwhile one.
I have always been inspired by those who dare to do what most only dream about.
They inspired me to create FREAK Clothing and the following goals:
- always produce the best Australian made quality clothing
- sponsor and to promote extreme fast-paced action sports
- always remain inspired by those I sponsor
- be a value trusted community-based business
- keep on developing, evolving and progressing FREAK into the future
Above all else, my mission is simple: encourage others to Live to Win.
